R&R Scrapbooking November Newsletter

Happy Fall everyone! Gee how time flies, I feel like I just wrote a newsletter but looking back in the files it had been the end of August… how did that happen? That kept me swamped well into September and then October came along and so many new products that I hardly had a minute to breathe which brings me to November.  So what’s changed… NOTHING! I’m still super busy but the emails asking if I’m still alive are a pretty big hint (wink).  Ha ha ha .  So knowing that sending out a newsletter is basically asking for trouble here goes!

Primas!

Ok working in the store alone for the past few months has been super I truly love dealing with my customers directly again.  You all are quite amazing.  Those crazy prima flowers were about the death of me but alas I made it. Yes they are all sold out right now so Insanity really must have taken over if you must know I’ve just placed a HUGE order for some incredible heart stopping no pre-ordering kind of beautiful, have to have them ALL cutting edge Prima products.  Now how’s that for a mouthful?  They are so nice indeed that I won’t even say when they are expected!  Talk about hedging my bets, been burned on that before  LOL.  Keep watching the what’s new.  But rest assured the got flowers? Are just the tip of the iceberg compared to what’s coming.

KF Loopy brads

There are some really spectacular new products, now here in the store and even more coming soon.  Just arrived today are the new colours in the Karen foster loopy brads, these have fast become a favourite of mine.  I actually even used some on a page, wow did you hear that I did a page!  Here is a peek at it.  I used the Karen Foster nickel loopy brads, with elastics, KF zoo names paper, KF wild things cardstock stickers, Bazzill cardstock in ivy, tanner and pinecone.  Worked out pretty good I thought.  Nothing at all like some of you talented gals out there.

The Sweet Taste of Crow!

Ahhh yes you’ll all remember the high and mighty claim that I made in the August newsletter that you can use the EK Fastenator staple bars without the stapler… well yes you can that’s true. But alas as I was working on some 6x6 Christmas gift albums and got really cooking with those, they weren’t really all that easy to poke through more than say one layer of cardstock.  What I was doing was adhering pictures to mats and sometimes more than one mat, can it be done by “pre drilling” with a paper piecer? Yes, but it is much easier with the stapler.  So now I have one more must have tool in my craft room that is soon going to need nets from the ceiling if I keep this up!  *** Just arrived are the new colours of the staple bars as well as the very spectacular word bars that just can’t be beat!  ***  and of course the stapler is backordered to us… figures!  LMK if you need one and I’ll call you when it’s in. now back in stock!

Appointments

You know this is why I’m the boss… Darn it I miss my customers! I am permitted one customer per day and my health permitting I can’t see why I wouldn’t allow it.  That being said I’m not going to start working evenings or weekends but if you’d like to arrange a personal shopping appointment between the hours of 10am-2pm email me at rhea@scrapbooking.ca  as always you are more than encouraged to bring a friend or 3 and make an event of it.  I realize that appointments will be few and far between but I figure that some are better than none.  Please NO children, there is no space here for them to enjoy themselves.  We do however back onto a lovely playground, bring a couple of friends and take turns watching the little ones at the park.  The best directions can be found at www.mapquest.ca the address by appointment ONLY is 709 Porter Court Edmonton T5T 6N7. 489-6713

Shipping

I’ve done a mini pilot project since being back full time with sending a single book regular post. And it’s been fine, so if you’re after the latest magazine size book without a special spine and it will fit in a regular 9x12 envelope I’m willing to ship it for just the $1.00 actual postage.  With this option there is no insurance or track-ability.  It is your choice/risk and if you are at all concerned about it going missing I do encourage you to take the regular insured expedited postage.  I’m still not able to ship items such as brads or lumpy items reg post. Nor do I recommend sending more than say $20 valued items this way.

Sales

Rob and I have discussed how to run sales, as in any business sales can and have been problematic, for instance. You order something regular price and the next week it goes on sale.  I as a consumer hate that as well.  We’ve decided to take a bit of a different approach. When we put something on sale it will stay on sale. Sort of like Walmart, and their new lower price idea.  We’re planning on re-vamping the specials page to be divided into price sections rather than category.  Much like the dollar store philosophy.  We’re renaming it too, it’s going to be called the Loonie Bin!  Fitting the more you get to know us ;)  We always welcome your feedback, after all the site is for YOU our shoppers, if you ever have suggestions we love to hear from you.

Garage Sale

As our local gals know, we’re permitted to open up 3 days twice a year under a garage sale permit… Well we’ve only had one so far this year.  We’re thinking that one either late November or early December would be the best.  We won’t physically open the garage because it will be too cold, but will have the entire store stocked up and ready for all your Christmas Shopping needs!  Be sure that you’re signed up for the newsletter to be emailed out to you so that you’ll get the notification when we can arrange Rob’s schedule and mine plus extra help needed to pull off this event!

Laura

Just an update on Laura and how she’s doing in School for Dental hygiene, I’m certainly not surprised with her outstanding accomplishments academically.  She’s got top honours on all her midterms, studies hard and is really enjoying her new venture.  We miss her terribly and will continue to rally behind her successes.  She has her own little cheering section from those of you who’ve come to appreciate her customer service over the last year and a half and of course from us here who adored her humour and personality.  Go Laura!!!

Thanks to everyone who’s continuing to check up on me and my health, I’m doing really great.  You know the word better is SO relative… months ago I said I was better, only to get stronger and better, yes I was better but not like I am now.  When they said it would take a year I don’t think I believed them…. Now coming up on 9.5 months I’m believing it! Stubborn cuss aren’t I? My hair has all grown back in, awesome! It’s super thick and curly, short which I’m not used to but not thin and I’m thankful and will take every strand I get!  The Dr’s appts are still consuming but alas I’ve been able to stave off the next surgery for now… hopefully a year or more, if all continues as is.  Yes for sure a min. of one surgery has to be done (and yes it will be a doozie), not negotiable the others are dependant on how things go. Thanks again to everyone for their prayers and well wishes!

Well if I’m going to get this to Rob to tweek and get posted I’d better sign off for now.

Wishing you all a fantastic day and thanks for your continued support!

Happy Scrappin!    Rhea
