April Newsletter for R&R Scrapbooking
www.scrapbooking.ca
Greetings everyone!
Yes its finally me typing a bit of an update truth be told Laura made me do it shes newlettered out! Poor girl has been flying solo for a LONG time now. Ive been down to the store a few times this April, stairs are still a pretty good challenge for me and the hands are still very shakey but Im doing SO much better! I cant thank all of you enough for all the wonderful emails, cards, phone calls and yes even gifts WOW Ive been totally overwhelmed.
One special gal even did me up a Hospital Survival kit full of everything one could dream of in a paint can. If any of you are looking for great ideas that about tops the list, here are a few of the things that were in there:
- hand sanitizer (a must!)
- creams
- bubble baths
- Vaseline (another must!)
- Lottery scratch ticket (didnt win L)
- Pens
- Cotton balls
- Puzzle book
- Candy
- Kleenex
- Mints
- Chocolate (ditto must!)
- Nail stuff
- Lip balm
All that and more! Neat and a great conversation piece with the hospital staff J Great for those awkward moments when student nurses are assigned to you alone for an entire week and you know their entire short but fairly uneventful 19 years of life history after the first shift ha ha ha ! No kidding aside I loved the attention that I got as I was often all alone or had room mates that were there but not if you know what I mean. They liked to assign someone to me because I had lots to learn on, epidural, dressing changes, IV everything and more tubes than I could care to count. Really the drugs were a great help and I think I really may miss them the most! Not so much looking forward to spending any more time in the hospital, and for the first bit in a while feel like summer might actually arrive.
Summer is a wonderful time of year and being so sick for so long really helps put the important things in perspective. Ryley was so needing his Mom back and Im happy to say that Im here! Yes Im losing all my hair from both the medications and the general stress just in time to spread sunscreen on my scalp for summer but thats ok too, I figure people are going to thing Ive gone through Chemo but Im thankful that I didnt have to, it for sure was a possibility but Praise the Lord no cancer!
I have been so very blessed from family and friends at the hospital, I never went even one day without visitors overlapping. My Mom, Rob and Ryley came each and every day, they even bathed me (one sure fire way to get on the good side of the nurses!) anything to cut down their workload and I guarantee youll get an extra jello J Then to come home to more than 6 weeks of help from Robs Mom and Mine! Though due to the aforementioned drugs very little memory oh well. My incision is still on the mend and will still take a couple of months to heal completely but that I can deal with.
Again thanks for all the support and those who have had such great reviews of Lauras efforts in my absence really without Her we would have closed down during my ordeal.
Its so nice to have such a great person like Laura to be here both friend and employee in one, nice to be looking forward to our Birthdays on May 10th were already getting giddy about it! Oh how one year can change so much.
Take today to be thankful for what you have, if there is one thing God has shown me through this is that regardless of where you are today there is always tomorrow, and everything we have is a gift, and there is always someone out there who is in worse shape. Take care my friends you are all very special.
